Here's the printed label on a test bottle. I'm using kraft brown label paper that I purchased from OnlineLabels.com:

Very nicely done. I like the fading effect. Combined with the brown paper, it looks very rustic. I like!

You can embed anything you want in them.

For instance if you want someone to visit your website with a smartphone, it allows them to navigate to your page just by scanning the code with their phone.

You could even embed the recipe for the brew in them.

To make your own just google for QR code generator.

Oh i know what a QR code is and how it's generated (I'm in the mobile software/logistics/mobile worker space..) I just think that unless it's really really relevant, it obscures the artistry of the label...

but, that's just me...

I see them on a lot of labels...

I disagree, I like them...makes it look like a real label. As homebrewers it isn't required to put the surgeons general warning on the label. We do anyway because it makes it look like a real label. I don't think any of that takes away from the artistry of the label, in fact in think it does just the opposite. Makes it look like a label that you would find on the shelf.

First off I can only draw stick figures LOL. I have no design experience.

The first is my Label for my all grain I just bottled.The second is my brewery logo that I shamelessly modified from an exhisting pic on Google. I don't claim ownership of any of these .

I think this one is awesome. Even though it's simple it gives you the impression the artist has skills somehow (unclear to my non-artistic self). Also, am I going crazy or did you originally post one without the background lettering? I thought it looked more like an artsy water-color spill on construction paper. Very cool.

Thanks man. No, youre not going crazy. The first one I posted was an unfinished one. And like I said the only other thing I've done is change it from brewery to brewing. I add the style to the label as well.

The Red Ale is bottled and about ready, so I'll be labeling tomorrow. The Brown is going in bottles on Friday night.

Here are all the labels I've done so far. The labels that are parodies of other beers are from recipe kits, the original designs are my own recipes or altered from recipes online.

(The parodies are Killians, Fat Tire, Stone Pale Ale, DFH Punkin Ale, Stoudt's Fat Dog and Woodchuck.)
