First pics from this year for me. These are 3rd year plants. Training 3 bines per string, 2 strings per plant this year (last year did 3 total bines).

First is centennial (oddly all the shoots on the right came up strong and thick, the left hand shoots are thinner and slower), second is galena, and third is zeus - which took the longest to break ground, but there are 4 shoots up right now... hoping they'll take off soon.

I see alot of string and trellises , How long does it take to grow these things ? I just planted tobacco seeds

I thought with these giant ropes ,I was looking to see some really huge plants. I guess need to search for last years crop?

Pretty psyched. All 5 of my rhizomes have sprouted. Now I just hope the deer don't discover them.

Me too! I had dug up a Cascade, or thought I did. I had given up as my 2 Centennials and 1 Cascade had already sprout up multiple bines each. Yesterday I just happened to look next to the big pot (bell peppers) I had sat in its place and low & behold, a little Cascade weed! Only took 34ish days...

My cascade plants are doing pretty well. Not all of them have even sprouted yet. The tallest plant is already 8ft tall!

UPDATE: It's been approx. one month since the last hop pictures were taken. First three are 2nd year and last pic is first year.

My first hop plant has sprouted!

Have to look close, but it's there :D

I planted about 8 days ago, and am still waiting on my Williamette, Nugget and Brewer's Gold plants.

This is my nugget, which I had fretted over, deciding I planted too late. It sprouted up about a week after planting, along with the cascade, and this is about 10 days in.

Here is my first attempt at growing hops. One first year Cascade and Magnum rhizomes which have taken off and are about five feet taller than in this pic.

Planted all of our Columbus and Cascade today.
Backwards I know, but the poles are being pressure treated in Montana.
Next come the Centennial, Chinook, Hallertauer, Galena, Northern Brewer and Brewers Gold.

Cascade in the field.

We're also starting extremely late, we didn't get our rhizomes until late March, and we started them in the nursery. Next year I'll try 3.5 gallon pots on all of them like I did with the Hallertauer.

First year. Two on left are cascade and the right are goldings. The far left cascade has really taken off. The others are lagging a little.

Cascades already with cones and 15 feet tall. Perles in far picture are already 18 feet with cones. All second years are doing great.

Finally get to contribute! Here is my hop trellis, the blank spot on the left side is reserved for Northern Brewer which will be planted next week:

Well went out this morning and found these 2 bastards feasting away on one of my rhizomes. But on the up side my 2nd yr cascade is over 9' tall now. It's seems organocide only works if you apply it every 3-4 days. Gonna have to get some more.

This is my first attemp at growing my own hops. Im pretty content with my setup and think it will work just fine and look beautiful when all grown. Galena is on the left and Willamette on the right. :rockin:

Here is my little hop garden. Both rhizomes were planted 5/5/12. The first one is cascade and the second is nugget. The cascade is taking off but the nugget seems to be kind of a runt. Hopefully it will get some motivation from the cascade.

Here I a pic of my first year using one year old crowns. I live in central Arkansas. Growing golding, nugget, mt. Hood. My plan is to set a taller set of fence posts behind these and grow them semi horizontally. That way I can still mow under them without growing them into the sky.
