Should I use amber malt?

Is amber malt a normal ingredient for a wheat beer? Im really just looking for the color out of it. Grain bill is.....4.4# Wheat, 4.4# 2 row, 1# amber.

I've never seen a wheat with amber, but that's not to say it's against the rules. Anything flies. It might actually turn out good.

Now, it might be used in some dunkelweizens or weizenbocks, but none that I've seen. Most of those beers use crystal, chocolate, or other malts to produce the color and flavor.

Amber is very roasty, a pound in that grain bill would make it incredibly chocolatey.

You could use Munich malt to get some color and depth of flavor but for the same color as 1# Amber you'd need ~2# Munich.
