I'm thinking of starting to go to kegged beer. There's not much i need for Christmas, since i buy everything i want. So my wife is having a hard time thinking of things to get me for Christmas. I already asked for a Sanyo fridge, but wasn't sure that i wanted the beer tap equipment. I don't mind bottling, but it would be kinda cool to have one of my beers on tap.

Other than maybe drinking more, is there a negitive to going to keg?

My friends drop in even more now than they did when I bottled, consequently I brew more.

Oh wait you wanted negatives...................... nah, go for it! :mug:

If you don't catch a gas leak in your system early, you can drain an entire tank of CO2 and be left with flat beer and out of pocket to fill the tank again. If you spring a leak on the liquid side, you'll have up to five gallons of brew to clean up. I think it's fairly rare for either of those to happen if you anticipate check for problems. IMO the benefits far outweigh the disadvantages.

Drinking more is a negative?

I usually look at it as a positive, divided by my OG, multiplied by my current ABV, which is offset by some serious H2O intake.... :drunk:

Sorry I really can't come up with a reason as to why you shouldn't.

Santa hasn't been getting hints so much as websites and product details emailed to her :D

The only negative is that it's like another addition to the brewing addiction.

Like all things brewing you'll want it bigger and better before you know it.

But really, do it.

The real question is why wouldn't you?

Santa drinks heavily as you can tell by some of the avatars that have popped up lately.

Humm ...
15 kegs
Two CO2 tanks
Two keggers
Four regulators
Conditioning cabinet

Great beer on tap. It balances out.
