shirron chiller

i want to buy the shirron chiller but i only have a regular (not food grade) aquarium pump. could i use it with the shirron to pump ice water?

Yes. The water side of the plates never touches the wort side.

In other words, the cooling liquid could be glycol (or Freon for that matter) with no issues.

But don't use freon, that would be stupid.
