I wanted to ship my brother my homebrew.I don't have a bottle capper.Plus im thinking a plastic bottle has less chance of damage/breaking.What do you think? Also can I just pour from tap into bottle without losing carbination when he opens it aprox 4 days later?
It not gunna look pretty but that's what nice glasses are for.

not sure about how well it will keep carbonation, but I would suggest a soda bottle instead of a water bottle.

soda bottle is designed to hold a carbonated drink, water bottle is not

Buy a stainless growler and shop that instead. You can get one for $30 online anywhere. Then have him send it back with some local brew from his location.

If his brother is anything like mine, I'd never see the growler again.

lol. Right on point. Got to love brothers!!

You could do a test run. Get a soda bottle and fill it up from the keg. Throw it in a box and toss it around the room a bunch for a day or so and then try to open it. You'll have your answer :ban:

Just as an FYI, a medium flat rate box ships anywhere in the U.S. for about $12. I have shipped bottles and cans and have had both break on me. $30 for a stainless growler is a fair price to protect my beer. Hell, make it a birthday present or something and offer him free refills as long as he sends it back :)

You could always use screw-top PET bottles. They are pretty popular with some homebrewers that ship bottles because they won't break and they are lighter than glass. They are designed to hold CO2 from beer which would be my main concern with using a water bottle.

Does anyone know where the old thread is that was basically a guide to shipping beer?
It was, at one time, a sticky somewhere, but seems to have left us.....
