Hi guys,

I brought some bottle carbonated homebrew along with me to meet some friends.. However during transport the bottles fell on the side and they were in the trunk like that for a few hours.

It's a stout so I can't tell for sure how shaken up the yeast is... Anyone know how long it takes for the yeast to settle back down? is 24 hours of time sufficient, with some time spent in the freezer to help ?

Really depends on how much trub is in the bottle, how flocculent the yeast you used is, and how much it got shaken up. Gently upright the bottle and put it in the coldest part of the fridge as the cold helps drop solids out of suspension. The big particles will settle out in less than an hour. Smaller ones will slowly drop out, could be a day or days...all depends on the variables like I said.

24 hours cold should generally be sufficient to clear it pretty well. that's what most of us do when we cold-crash beers. 24 hours at as close to freezing as possible. And 5G of beer takes at least 6-12 hours to get cold, while your bottles will be cold in 30 min.

RDWHAHB. (but not the one with yeast mixed in - wait 24 hours).
