I rarely use one, but it's a clearing vessel. Beer clears faster at cool temperatures, so if clarity is the point you'll probably want to keep it cool.

Sir? I dryhop at room temperature, as that seems to be the quickest way to get the flavor and aroma out of those dryhops. The cooler the temperature, the longer it takes. Mid-high 60s is perfect for dryhopping.
