One of the latest things in beer brewing seems to be keeping the beer in the primary until it's ready to keg/bottle.

Does hard cider need to be racked to a secondary to get it off the lees? Mine just finished fermenting and I'm waiting for it to drop clear. It's starting to do that now, but it's going to take a while, and there's a *lot* of dark sediment.

I rack to cold conditioning after 2 weeks.
But at 1 week, I add 1 lb. honey and 1 lb cranberry, which kicks in the fermentation again.
I'll leave it cold conditioning for 3 weeks or whatever time is convenient to my bottling schedule.

Can racking to secondary help clear cider faster.........YES.
Is it a requirement.................................................NO
