for over a year now.
So they were good before they got rid of their head brewer? I've always put them along side Epic Ales or whatever their brand is these days.

About 6 months ago I decided to give them another shot, so I picked up one of their BA Death to Cereal and it was even worse than the garbage they were pumping out during the Ballard days. It was one of the worst beers I've ever had - it was like biting into a raw green pepper that was dusted with dark, dark roast coffee and filled with movie theater popcorn.

I've been enjoying UF for a few years now, but I've found that their draft offerings are much better than the bottles.

I was there on Thursday with my daughter and a friend and I enjoyed everything I had. Great saisons, sours and IPAs. The new batch of Limesicle IPA was really nice, too. Much better than the last batch. They've also done a lot to improve the taproom.

It's for the best that UFD is gone. Created a lot of bad blood in the region between them and most everyone else.
Completely agree. Distributing their first Cantillon/3F drop in an old s10 when it was 90+ degrees out wasn't a good look. Incredibly it only got worse from there.

I was thinking more of "not paying people" bad, but that works too.

Speaking of Cantillon, when was the last time we had a shipment in Seattle? I can't even remember.

Oh, I went to that Shelton event where they were pouring Fou and whatnot. Isn't that what they did with all their Cantillon and what everyone still does? Hoard it for private events?

Delaurenti got a few 375mL Bio Gueze recently.

I bought a Kriek at 99 Bottles from that first Cantillon drop and a Cuvee Sant-Gilloise from Chucks a year later. Haven't seen or heard of a shelf Loon in ages.

Afraid to drink the ones I bought at the brewery and my Final Lou Pepe Framboise from Vancouver back when it was plentiful and flowed like wine. Cause then I won't got no Loons to look at it in my garage.

I think that's when I got the Gilloise. It was just hanging out behind the counter. Sure helps that the bottle doesn't look like a Cantillon label.
That may have been a different day. I had to stay home from work that day for tree trimmers, and I stopped in at lunch on a Wednesday and they were just getting the boxes in. I didn't see the Gilloise in that shipment.

Finding LPK on a shelf in Seattle..... My mind is blown. I am also confused, sad, hopeful, and confused all at the same time.

The last Cantillon shipment I saw were the bottles at the Masonry Shelton event 2ish years back. It felt pretty baller having an LPG, LPK, and LPF bottles lined up at a pizza bar in Seattle.

I remember seeing LPK, LPF, Vigneronne, Iris and all the regular ones on the shelf at Viti Wine and Lager in Vancouver back in 2012. My head exploded.

So now there are multiple claims that an employee at the Fremont FedEx store may be opening trade boxes, stealing bottles, resealing the boxes and sending them on their way? Jesus.

Greetings from SoCal... A buddy and I are going to be in Seattle towards the end of July for a couple nights to sight-see and drink some PNW beers (after a few nights in Portland). I've heard BA Fremont bottles are nearly shelf-turds in your area and if so, could you point me to a bottle shop or two that might have them? If not, I could bring up some SD beers to trade for them.

Since we'll only have about 48h after arrival some things we would like to do (suggestions are welcome)...

Touristy ****: Mariners game, space needle, pike market, experience music project museum.
Beers: Fremont, Reuben's, Brouwer's Cafe, Bottleworks (all in the same area)

A couple places I have star'd downtown where we'll be staying... Pine Box, Vine St. Market, Elysian Cap Hill (meh?).

I have a few places star'd south of downtown, but not sure we'll have time to make it down that far..

Any food recs?

Thanks!

BA Fremont shelfies are a thing of the past. You may get lucky at a random, out of the way shop outside Seattle but that's about it these days.

Just a heads up... that's a lot of touristy stuff to fit into one trip and the breweries/bars you outlined, while in the same general area, aren't that close to each other. There are a few better loops to do that are more convenient IMO.

Shoot me a PM and I'll get you sorted. I have a long running recommendations list that is in dire need of updating that I can send your way :)

PM Sent. We'll have about 52h total in Seattle to be exact. If anyone has any BA Fremont stouts they'd like to trade for SoCal goodies, hit me up.

Anyone tried the new 3Mags "Storm" canned IPAs yet? Grabbed a couple singles at Bottleworks, figured $8 was smarter than $32.

Wow. That guy is cool. The others are easy to fake I guess but that Cantillon...

Anyway, are there any beer week events worth attending that aren't JOOSE FEST HAZE DAZE 2K17? I did a control+f search on each day's event page for "farmhouse", "saison", "cantillon", "shelton", "lambic" and got nothing. Don't say Brouwers sourfest.

I would highly recommend Brouwers sourfest. The beers are excellent, but the wait times and pricing are even better. Be sure to go right at opening and 5 pm for the single Cantillon keg tapping for maximum enjoyment...

SBW has only gotten lamer each year. The only events that I would be remotely interested in going to are the E9/HM event at The Masonry and the HM/Cloudburst dinner at Lark (but I'm sure that one is like $200 so probably not).

The Masonry event sounds cool, maybe I will venture over there at some point. Count me out for Lark...the dinner is probably full of foie gras or something.
