Hey folks-

Been on the forum a good while now.....life got in the way of brewing, and I got heavily involved with a few other hobbies. I ended up selling off a lot of my AWESOME (and I do mean awesome) gear. But, brewing has quietly been calling my name. I may get back into things slowly and on a smaller scale than before (2.5 gallon batches vs 5&10). I always enjoyed tweaking my brew system and brewing process.....maybe I'll do a small but very advanced tabletop system, but I have a couple other projects I need to get done (restoring a milling machine and lathe).

Welcome back. Have you seen how many single-vessel electric builds have been done at this point? Not mine, unfortunately, but I will get to take advantage of everyone else's learning curve.

@ Revvy....no, never did anything with the coffee maker....it was actually one of those "projects" I had the parts in a corner for a rainy day, and when I moved out of my house I ended up getting rid of a lot of those extra parts and pieces. I really wish I held onto some of that stuff, but that's how it goes.

The biggest shame of it all is that I ended up selling my brewing stuff! Some of those triclover valves were one-of-a-kind and made of unobtainium. THOSE I will miss. But, I now have a TIG welder, 10" lathe, and a milling machine. So I guess it's a wash.

Knowing what I know now, I will probably focus more on smaller batches such that I can focus on the best equipment (pound for pound) and quality ingredients. When you do smaller batches, you can get around a lot of the more complicated chillers, filtration, and fermentation systems and just focus on making good beer.

Sounds like you are doing well and I agree about the smaller batches, but I've found that they take most of the same amount of work and you get less beer. Good for people with lots of time to brew lots of batches. not as good for those of us who find it hard to find time as it is.

Know what you mean about the unobtainium. I'm currently looking to get my hands on some Wonderflonium. Just trying to piece together the delivery van remote control iPhone app. Looked so easy in the video.
