My first brew was a Brewer's Best Scottish Ale. It's been in the bottle for a week. Decided to give it a try and it's super smokey. I'm hoping it will mellow. Any one make this recipe and get the same result? It's only a week in the bottles so I'm hoping it's just not ready yet.

I let my scottish ale age for 3 months. By that time it was so smooth. Give it some time and you'll love it.

I was hoping it'd mello with time. Its just incredibly smoky right now. I've only tried one commercial scottish ale and that was Gritty's here in Maine. It wasn't smokey at all so I thought I had produced some off flavors.

Like others have said, give it more time and it should mellow out quite a bit. I've made that beer before and it does take some aging time.
