Scoby has grey colored mass.

Hi!
Got two scoby's started recently and just started my first batch of kombucha, BUT my scoby has the mass pictured below. I know scoby's aren't supposed to be pretty, but the colored area has me worried. Any suggestions appreciated! Thanks.

Mold would be fuzzy or hairy.
