So my tub of damprid was pretty much dissolved, so I went to Lowe's today and got some of the refill stuff. Unfortunately when I got home I realized that I bought the "fresh scent" stuff. Will this negatively affect my beer in any way? I hope not, but I wanted to ask before I let this sit in there for too long.

I'd take care to avoid anything scented around finished beer, but about the only way that "fresh scent" could affect your precious beer would be to infiltrate through the beer lines.

Doesn't seem likely to me...

Cheers!

Wow - you're having condensation issues in a ferm chamber?
Are you doing lagers, then?

Yeah, I can see how that could pose a potential problem - there can be a certain amount of fermentor "breathing" as the chamber temperature cycles up and down. Given a long enough exposure to a high enough concentration of fumes, it doesn't seem so unlikely scented absorbent could taint the beer.

Too late to take it back and exchange it for scent-free stuff?

Cheers!

[edit] Ok...ATL area...summer...
I reckon when it gets intense enough you can get condensation at "Room Temperature" down there ;)

No lagers, but there is a bit of condensation in there. Maybe I'm just a bit over concerned haha I'll see if I can return it.

With it being so hot here in Georgia and the fact that it's I. My garage, it can get a bit damp in there. Not where there are puddles, but to where the sides are slick and the bucket starts to sweat a little.

I'm going to go to Lowe's tomorrow to see if I can exchange. One night without any damprid, cant be that many issues. Right?

Did you ever switch it out? I got some vanilla lavender scented damprid and used it. I thought since the fermenter should be air tight it wouldn't matter... my DIPA has a weird taste and I'm wondering if that is the problem.

This is the first time I used the damprid. I've been brewing for about a year with inconsistent results. So I'm having trouble pin pointing when things aren't right to begin with...

Did your next batches using the scented DampRid still taste funny?

No, I've done two more batches since and neither of them had that weird flavor/aroma. But it's also colder here now (southern Ohio) so I haven't had a moisture problem. I bought a scent free version, but I haven't used it. I will try it out once the temps start going back up and my freezer kicks on more than the heater.
