My wife has been making wine from kits and I have been "helping" her. But I really want to have a go with something that I can appreciate a bit more.
My old man used to make beer when I was a kid, and I can remember the tops blowing off the bottles in the middle of the night, like gunfire, scaring the heck out of me.
He didn't use crown caps, he was using these plastic bung like things.
I think I will start with the Festa Brew Cream Ale. It seems like a decent first beer for the lazy man. I am assuming it does not have particularly low temperature requirements, like some of the others. A kit like this will at least prove if I have my cleanliness and sanitization skills up to par. I expect one can get away with a little bit more with wine, due to the higher alcohol content and less stringent timing of racking etc.
Cheers.
And thanks for all the great posts.
