Good afternoon, hope every one is well.
Started brewing kits at the start of the year and been getting pretty good results so far. Learning loads just by reading and studying all information on these forums.
I'm looking to start more advanced brewing and I'm in the process of saving up for a grainfather.

Until then I'll raise my glass to you mighty fine boozebags!

Cheers :mug:

Welcome to the most rewarding hobby out there! What sort of beers are you brewing?

I've started with IPA'S it's what I like the most.

I've been to beer festivals and sampled other styles but not my cup of tea.

Hi Acky

Just joined myself and thought I would say hello to a fellow Scot!

Where did you get your kit to start off? I am just starting to look at one for myself.

Not home brewing, but as you are from Fife, what do you think of the Eden Mill range? Some great beers in their line up!

Morning Andrew,

I started with this kit

I didn't use the barrel yet as I bottle, but it might come in handy at some point.

Eden mill is pretty good, but I have a local petrol station that stocks a vast stock of craft beer which I use or drink my own

Welcome AndrewFraser and Acky. I was in Scotland in June - it was great. I was surprised to find that almost nobody there ever heard of Scottish Ale as a beer style. I did manage to find some (Broughton Exciseman's) and it was excellent.

Welcome to the Club from Ft. Lauderdale, Acky. The wifie is from Auchtermuchty :)

I've been to FT Lauderdale a few times on training course at the maritime training centre. We used to go the the craft bar Tap 42 up the road from there.
Really enjoyed it there, great place.
Auchtermuchty is just up the road from me too.

Lots of new breweries in the area as well so let me know the next you're in town, and we'll go for a bevy.

I was in Fort Lauderdale last year on vacation, a wonderful place! I remember partaking in a few "beer flights" in a bar on Las Olas - but I can't remember the name of the bar now (it must have been a good night!).

My goal is to retire out in Florida, only another 20 years of the cold Scottish weather to go!

So, @ ncbrewer's post, is there or is there not in Scotland something known as a "Scottish Ale"? As a brew, if not a style, l like what stateside is called a "Wee Heavy". Or ur we dunderheeds bein' sauld a bill ay goods? :mug:

You can find it in the BJCP guidelines:
http://www.bjcp.org/docs/2015_Guidelines_Beer.pdf
on pages 25 and 26. I did manage to find some in Scotland in the grocery store - Broughton Exciseman’s Ale.
