No just started. Idid one island mist wine kit and currently i have 3 gal of strawberry wine in my primary. i have another island mist kit on stand by and want to branch out to do cider

Do any of you guys know what the level of Magnesium and Bicarbonate levels are in the city water?

I recently received the water report in the mail but it didn't list either. I also called the Dept of Water lab and they told me they don't even test for them (but she did give me the Chloride which is 16ppm).

But the reading I've been doing says that Mg and HCO3 are important.

Thanks!

-Chris

does anyboy have any good sources for cheap bottles wine or beer in the area normally i shop at n.t. but wondering if there is anywhere cheaper

I just left 2 cases of empties in my basement when I left. I should have put them up on here. I got lucky and new a guy that was a member of a sportsmens club that served beer. I bought 2 cases of long necks for like $10. I love those bottles. The other option is to buy a couple of cases of genny light and have a party!

No idea. But if you do find out I'd like to know as well.

Ok, thanks for the reply. If I ever come up with it, I'll post it here.

Probably no big deal, but it would be nice to have those numbers for BeerSmith or maybe I'm just too anal. :)

i would have def taken them

When I started it took me 5 hours start to finish, but it doesn't take that long anymore. Just take your time and focus on one step at a time. After you get a couple of brews under your belt you'll learn where you can cut corners and such. Welcome aboard!

Hey Project, what's up! Seems like there are a lot of Buffalo people popping up here. We should really try starting a club or something. Might be fun. Any ideas?

I never knew they had a beerfest here...and at the Central Terminal no less, that's really sweet.

So let's see, at 3oz a token and 20 tokens with admission that's about 5 beers for $20. That's not too bad I guess.

It was a lot better in past years when there was no need for tokens. Just pay the admission fee and you can taste as much as you want. FWIW, if you are def. gonna go, then I recommend getting your tickets before hand. They sold out last year.

since there seems to be a large contingent of buffalo brewers on this thread and i just registered, i figured i would add to the group.

and yes no tokens was great last year at brewfest, it will be interesting to see how it goes this year with the tokens.

any one know the name of the shop in orchard park, I will be there alot this football season. the supply shops that I have found in the rochester area kind of suck. I have been ordering almost everything of the net. I drove out to nt but they are a little expensive and about 78 miles away. I need to talk the wife into moving to buffalo! GO BILLS!!!

That's the spirit! I sure am gonna miss going to Bills games... Anyway, the shop in OP is called Let's Do Wine http://www.letsdowine.com/ I've never been myself, but I believe some others have and may chime in here. GO BILLS!!!

You know that Beers of the World carries supplies too right? I don't think Let's Do Wine would be much better than that.

beers of the world doesnt have much of a supply, mostly base malt and very few specialty malts and their customer service reeaallly sucks. they tried to tell me that wyeast no longer makes activator packs.

Ok thanks. Definitely going to try to drag my girlfriend to this one with me. Thanks for the heads up.

This thread has really taken off hasn't it? Good to see so many WNY area people around here.

Probably not a bad idea, casue someone has to drive home. The Central Terminal is not a place you want to leave your car overnight.
