Hi everyone,

I recently used the S-33 yeast from Safbrew. It took almost 72 hours to become vigorously active in a 5 gallon batch of double oatmeal stout (OG - 1.050). Is this a normal occurrence? Does anyone have experience with this type of yeast or perhaps brewing stouts?

Thanks!

P.S. This is my first attempt at home brewing.

No worries! The same thing happened to me when I used S-33. I had actually bought another packet of yeast and when I took the lid off my bucket I saw a small amount of krausen. I put the packet in my fridge for use at another time.
