Hi i would like to brew some dark rum

dose anyone have a recipe and method?

cheers pete

Rum is a distilled beverage made from fermented molasses "beer". If you're in the US it is illegal to distill without a ATF permit. Other than that, you just need to ferment then distill.

Thanks for the reply. I live in the uk were it is legal to brew what ever we like, we just can sell it.

im a complete newbie so could you please give a little more detail.

Distilling is illegal in the UK:

http://homedistiller.org/legal.htm

We avoid discussing distillation here for several reasons. First, it is illegal in most countries where our members live. Second, it does not pertain to homebrewing beer, wine, cider, or mead. Please visit another site to ask your questions.

Rum is not made by brewing.
It is made by distilling.
It is illegal to distill rum in the UK without the correct licence even if you don't sell it.

This is not a distilling forum and you should not discuss breaking the law on this forum.

This is a home brew forum based in the US where home distilling is illegal. Sorry, you won't find any info here.
