I just rinse out a few times with hot water after the mash - as fast as you can to get rid of the buildup and you can PBW it too - but that gets expensive fast if you brew often. I only do a CIP with my mash tun every three times with PBW.

Once a while though I do a real cleaning by taking some Arm&Hammer Baking Soda to it (yes - the kind that sits in your fridge) and it removes the stains and it cleans the s#!t out of the cooler. RINSE a few times though with hot water and you are good.
