Rubber gasket on a CO2 tank

So the nylon ring I got at the store didn't seal. It really didn't fit in the regulator at all. It seemed to big... and when I tightened the nut it never went flush and thus never sealed.

In a pinch I took a rubber gasket from a flip top bottle an cut it to size. It seems sealed not. It pressurize the keg so i can serve it tonight. Is there any long term or even short term problems to using rubber in there?

Can I at least use it for a day or so? Really don't want to truck back to the store tomorrow.

You should be OK as long as it's sealing. Some regulators use an elastomer o-ring in place of the nylon gasket.

That what I thought . Nylon is probably used because it is used across all gasses and some are harsher to rubber. CO2 is pretty inert to rubber.
