So a co-worker of mine's brother owns a beverage center. I have been attempting to locate some kegs to switch over to all grain and build myself something in the process. I am able to obtain one standard 1/2 keg and two of the older rounded style kegs. They are all "de-commissioned" unsure why each one is. Anyway just wondering if anybody has any experience with the rounded variety older style for making keggles?

As long as its SS and fits on your burner you should be good... Heck if its free why not experiment for yourself.

The rounded kegs that Coors uses work for keggles. I personally have not converted one but I have seen many pictures of people using them just fine. The only potential issue I could see with them is if you buy a sight tube that dosen't work with them.

I believe the older kegs sound like a Hoff-Stevens style with a bung on the side and two tap outlets (top and side of bottom). If this is the case, they require a little more work to convert. Hope this helps you, as I'm in the process of converting one of these myself right now (2 months in the making!)
