Has anyone put compression fittings on their robobrew immersion chiller? I want to put compression fittings on it and connect to a garden hose in and out.. I took the chiller into my local Lowes looking for a fitting.. I didnt see anything that looked like it would work, and eventually gave up and left..

I have been searching online for some fittings.. I finally found something that might do it.. Any opinions are welcome.

The fittings are '1/2" OD x 3/4" FIPS Adapter' and '1/2" OD x 3/4" MIPS Adapter' from here - https://goo.gl/1t89Li

Does anyone see a reason these won't work? Any better ideas?

eh nevermind.. I took the chiller into Lowes and Home Depot.. Neither store could come up with a fitting that worked...

I took the route of a short piece of tubing and some hose clamps.... I give up.. Its not worth it.. the small pieces of tubing work fine.. It's just not the elegant solution I was hoping for..

There's an Amazon seller that sells brass 1/2" to 3/4" female npt fittings (among others). Throw in a couple of these and you should be able to connect garden hose to the in and out sides of the chiller.

I was able to get it done at Home Depot.

These fittings are in the irrigation area:

Then I went the route of using quick connects that can be found in the garden hose section:

Was able to make a water-tight connection this way although those compression fittings will actually pull off the chiller if you try hard enough.

Unfortunately the qds are going to leak quickly on the hot output side. The gaskets get too soft.
I second this... I use them on my plate chiller and leave a 5 gallon pail under it while using them to catch the leaking water... its on my list of things to someday address.

I can offer one thing.. I ended up utilizing some universal hose adapters I had bought off Ebay.. There are some on Amazon too.. They have worked quite well with the chiller. Search for "universal garden hose tap"..

I had originally bought some of these so I could attach a garden hose to my utility sink in my garage for bathing the dogs.. It turns out they work just fine for the chiller..

The ones I bought were for pipes in the 13-18mm range https://goo.gl/Y1m1Rx
