I read an article http://barleypopmaker.info/2009/12/08/home-roasting-your-malts/ that talks about home roasting your own malt. This intrigued me and I might experiment with it in the future, but my LHBS mills all the grain in advance when you place an order unless you ask her not to. But if I told her not to, I would then have to go back there, pay parking and gas to have 3 pounds of speciality milled again: pain in the butt and probably cheaper to buy ready made bown, amber or whatever considering the time commitment.

So, can you roast already milled grain ? My instinct tells me no since it might mess with the now exposed starches, but roasting is roasting after all.
