Don't forget Professor Proton.

Amazing the longevity of his career and ability to make almost anyone laugh across so many generations. Even my 9 year old new who he was ( papa elf in Elf).

Truly says something about your talent (and dare say your character) when you can reach whole new generations while still getting roles in your late 80's.

My wife's been on a Newhart binge the past two weeks after breaking her arm. We were talking about who was still alive from that show, and I had thought Bob had died a couple of years earlier. Then the next day, she tells me he had died. Bummer.

Hilarious show. I think George is my favorite character from that show. I liked the older The Bob Newhart Show, but I'm more familiar with the characters of Newhart. I agree about the finale. It's probably the best one of any show, imo.

He was a true treasure, one of the old school. I used to serve him many times a week, at the restaurant where I worked in Toluca Lake. The nicest, most unassuming guy. RIP Bob. Thank you for the memories.

Pretty awesome story. "Nicest. most unassuming" also tells me he must of really appreciated his fan base throughout his career.

I always liked his comedy subtle and clean.

Your comment made me think about this song, from another comedian who lived a LOOOONG life. I listen to a Sirius station 40's Junction, and this comes up occasionally.

Aw, man, such an innocent time. Another great. The road movies were such classics. And always loved the vets. Good guy.❤️

Any of you all ever heard of the band Pompalmoose? I've always loved Nataly Wood's voice and now I wonder if Shirley Ross from the above video was an influence. They sound so similar to me. I haven't heard their stuff in a while, so maybe I should give them a revisit.

Anyways, enough derailing from me. here's more of Bob. I watched this Johnny Carson bit after the Letterman video passpawn posted.
