So I just got my RIMS tube build finished last weekend and tested it with water. It worked great and I'm looking forward to it's maiden voyage this weekend.

What I'm wondering about is how everyone handles the wort return to the mash tun without excess splashing. There are supposed negatives to hot side aeration that I would prefer avoiding if possible. It seems that if I could figure out how to return below the level of the wort in a way that doesn't disturb the gain bed, that would be optimal.

How do you all handle it? Or do you not even worry about it at all?

I along with a lot of people on this board use a silicone hose that lays on top of my grain bed. Works great. I have my flow throttled down a lot and it is a nice and calm return that creates a whirlpool over the grain bed.
