Hey I am having an issue getting my SSR relay to work. I have a TD4 PID, 25A SSR and i am using a light to simulate the heater element. I have spent a lot of time searching on here because I know the subject gets talked about a lot but I still am stuck on why it isn't working the way it should.

The PID powers up, and the SSR's light flickers on and off appearing that it works but the side where you connect the heating element doesn't mimic the light of the SSR( the light stays on when connected to the outlet)

I drew a quick diagram of what the wiring looks like. Any help would be great.

Thanks

Wiring is OK.

looks like your SSR is broken.

- what happened if you disconnect SSR from PID? Is light bulb still ON?
- Could you post a picture of your setup?

When i disconnect the SSR from the pid the light still stays on. I have never used a SSR before so it could be that it is defected. I am going to put it all in an ammo box once its connected and running correctly.

Double check that the SSR is connected to the hot side of the light circuit and not the neutral side. Do you have a meter available?

Could be a bad SSR - but my bet is on a leaky SSR - put a bigger wattage light on it, say a 500W Halogen or a 100W incandescent and see if it still does it. My 220V LED's stay on all the time when the elements aren't plugged in because of leakage current through the SSR's. As soon as there is a decent load across them, the indicator lights go out.

They all leak a little bit, transistors aren't perfect.

I do have a mulitmeter, Im just not sure what i would put the probes to. I tried a larger wattage bulb and still the same thing is happening.

It was a bad SSR. I got a new new one, hooked it up the same and it worked perfectly. Thanks for the help!!
