I'm going to switch over to all-grain soon and I have been reading a lot about it. I've seen that there are some recipes for the same type of beer that call for rice hulls in the grain bill, and some that do not. My question is this, is there an advantage to using rice hulls and are there beers that you wouldn't want to use them? Cheers!

Rice hulls are used to prevent a stuck sparge. If you crush your grain very fine or use a lot of wheat malt, you may want to add rice hulls. I've found that using my set up and grain crush, it's advantageous to throw in a 1/2 pound of the stuff every time. Of course, YMMV.
