I'm going to do an APA using 05 and then plan on washing some of the cake and doing a blond ale. My question is will there be any problem using yeast from a higher IBU ale to using it for a lower IBU brew in terms of flavor or doesn't make any difference?

It has never made a difference for me.

I would not even wash it if it is the same day. Samitize a measuring cup and scoop what you need into a clean fermenter. Boom.

And you can go from a stout into a pale ale. The color will not transfer in a discernable fashion. From my experience.

Thanks chef, I never thought about any color change. I didn't think it would make any difference in taste, but thought I'd ask anyways.

since your are washing you have nothing to worry about in my opinion... even if you were just pitching on the cake i wouldnt fret unless you wanted to be anal about it.

dont forget to aerate!
