:D So today I have out processed the USAF and I am starting my retirement. I have 32 days of Terminal Leave and 20 days of permissive TDY accrued. so i have been given that time and I will be completly out of Active Duty on the 28th of January. :mug:
No more gettin up early for recalls. No more deployments and no more 14 hour days with no overtime.

So lets say goodby to one life and hello to anouther. My house will be packed on Monday and Tuesday and Wendsday my stuff will be shipped off to CA. We will recieve it on the 22nd just in time for Christmas. there wont be much time to prep but it is better than having the holidays in limbo somewhere . :ban:

Congrats and thank you for your service! I'm at 23 in the Corps right now, can't imagine what life will be like in 7 years.

Congrats again!

My best asignement would have been my first at Howard AFB Panama it was a blast and my worst was here at Hill AFB UT the leadership here has been more than bad for the last 5 years.
The retention rate here is less than 3% the lowest in the AF. i would have fought the retirement but i was fed up with the whole thing so i took what was offerd.

Thanks for your service!

Mind if I ask how long you've been in for? I've been extremely conflicted over the past few years as to whether or not the military was a career path I wanted to choose after graduating college.

I have been in for 15 years 6 months and 25 days acording to my retirement paperwork as of 28 January. I would never talk bad about he military as a whole. I have had a great time while in the AF and would recomend it to anyone as long as you are prepaired for it. You need to be prepaired to make sacrafices for what you love (your country) and you also kneed to know what you want to get out of your service. do you want to be deployed for 18 months do you want to spend time on really big boats (Ships) or do you want to be mud eaters (Marines) people I have all the respect in the world for. Not a job i would want. or do you want to be in a world that is more like a corprate office the AF. The only real military in the AF are the Security Forces and EOD they are running a 1 to 1 dwell and the rest of the AF will deploy somewhere areound the 18 month mark for a length of about 6 months. If you have any questions please feel free to shoot me a PM.

The VA is going to send me to school through the vocational rehab probram for a few years so that is my plan. money will be tight while i am in school but it will be worth it to get my certifications for info secruity and a bunch of other IT programs that will enable me to get a job with the goverment. i figure i may as well pull two retirements from the goverment...

Thanks guys it is all over but the shouting my house hold good are being shipped today and will arrive out in CA on the 22nd just in time for christmas. Not a bad gift fit the holidays...

Funny that you mention Hill AFB and their leadership. Were you there under Scott Chambers?
