I just got 5 kegs and a refrigerator conversion kit from keg connection. I've got it all set to put together but I can't seem to connect the gas lie to the keg. When I do I can hear a hiss as gas escapes from the top of the disconnect. I push as had as I can but it just doesn't seem to click on. There are to types of posts on the kegs I have but I can't seem to connect to either of them.

So I'd love some input, my beer is waiting.

Thanks

Sorry about the size of the pictures. Once I get the kegs figured out I'll figure out how to attach normal size pictures.

I think the problem is, those are pin lock posts... and that appears to be a ball lock fitting. Thats not going to work, you will need to get pin lock fittings. I am surprised they would send you a kit like that, did it come with any other fittings?

Yep, there are two types of corny keg connectors. Ball and pin. You have pin posts on your kegs, but ball connectors on your hoses. That isn't going to work. You need to either put ball connectors on the keg, or pin connectors on your hoses. Someone sent you a mismatched set.

Well that explains it. Thanks Zen Brew. Now I think I'll delete this thread so I don't look so dumb!

I had the kegs and did not stipulate what type connections I needed. It wasn't Keg Connections fault. They in fact have been great.

Nah, don't beat yourself up. It's an easy mistake to make if you are new to kegging. I suspect when many of us got our first keg setup, we were saved by the fact we bought a kit including kegs so we just naturally got all the same connectors.

Kegconnection is a great vendor. If you shoot them an e-mail or give them a call they may let you exchange the hose connectors you have. It's worth a shot. If you are really in a hurry you may be able to get the parts you need, and advice on connecting it up at your LHBS, although at a higher cost. The bummer of course is you are all jazzed up to get your co2 hooked up and it may have to wait a couple more days.

Hang in there. It's just a blip on the radar, and soon enough you'll be tapping your own beer. Once you get everything dialed in you're gonna love it.

Already went to the LHBS and got what I needed. Beer is under pressure as I type!

Excellent! Nice recovery. Isn't impatience and anticipation amazing? I probably would have done the same thing to get the beer under gas and screw the extra cost. When you are ready, you're just ready; and when your beer is ready, well that's better yet!

Enjoy. :mug:

That sums it up for me. I'm always ready for the beer but the beer isn't always ready for me to drink it. I guess the yeast like to take their damn time enjoying it before they let me.
