That's beautiful man. That looks heavy so I'd be concerned too. Not sure how you can do that if you're using the original lid. I scrapped the lid and replaced it with 3/4 plywood plus 1" foam insulation. Original hinges were replaced with a piano hinge running the full width.
 
I think the original hinges will be capable if you are the only one lifting the lid since you know to be careful and not slam it open into the hinge stops and just drop it shut.

Does it stay open on its own with the added weight?
 
Thanks. Took a few months off and on. I have a piece of left over trim (2x4) that I use to prop it open. I was considering buying some additional hinges to attach the top wood to the collar. More just for extra support.
