WTF mutilated version of "The Tide Is High" did I just hear in a Bank of America commercial? I love the Paragons original. The Blondie cover was good. I heard some obnoxious Brit-pop cover from the late 90s (I think) that was beyond awful, but this was even worse...

Don't think it's been posted before. And certainly fitting for the forum.

Had dinner at an English pub in town, and in addition to a halfway decent English tap/bottle selection, and some good English food that I haven't had since I was growing up over there, I was digging their musical choices too.

Granted it was switching back and forth between some worthless pop number and the good stuff.

Reminds me of the record stores down there, go in, tell the guy what you like and he'll just whip out a stack of records and start playing a few snippets... if you tell him you like it, it goes in your pile.

I was turned on to Desmond Dekker by my older hippie brother in the late '60's, have loved reggae and ska once a teen.....as far as ska, guess it was second wave?The Specials, The Selecter, The Beat (English Beat on this side of the pond, due to some crappy US bar band called The Beat ) Madness ....and reggae, Marley of course, Tosh, Burning Spear....memory is hazy at this point, but....that's a good part of it
