I don't remember who mentioned Supervillains a few pages back, but I looked them up when I first found the thread and liked their Careless Whisper cover (my brother showed me the Sexy Sax Man video so of course I had to check out the cover). It wasn't until this past weekend I looked through more of their music on Spotify and I found their album Robots. I'm in love with it, been listening to it a lot this week.

I liked a couple old posts from the first page that really mirrored my taste. I like slightly stoopid, rebelution, SOJA, etc. Very mellow.

As for Jamaican reggae, I like lover's rock. Check out Beres Hammond's song "rock away"-- its my favorite.

Others I like in reggae: Richie spice, Luciano, gyptian, sanchez, buju Banton. I Dont really like the dancehall or faster reggae. Or reggaeton.

I haven't heard any of the new "Scratch". I do like old ska a lot, and a lot of the newer roots bands such as Midnite, Groundation, 10 Ft. Ganga Plant, etc.
I was really into John Brown's Body in the 90's. And if you've ever heard of Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, I used to hang with those guys years ago. My sister was real good friends with them. The only thing I don't like is dance hall reggae and it's relatives. Just not for me.

Saw those panda dub guys in concert with Rebelution. It was AWESOME.

One of the greatest roots reggae bands that don't get enough love.

Also been listening to a LOT of Phyllis Dillon lately. She's fantastic.

She is really great.

I always enjoyed this cover...

I have a disturbing lack of the Gaylettes in my collection. I should probably pick some up.

The Gaylads are another story.

Man, haven't heard that one in a long time.

Here's a classic. Actually got to see the Pioneers live back in 2001 (give or take)...

One of my all time favorites. Love the Pioneers. Their early stuff was great. I love their later really soul-pop influenced stuff.

That had a little bit of a gospel twang to it too. Very nice.

here's a rare cut. Not really rocksteady, but probably the quickest tempo dub burner I've heard. One of my favs.

That's interesting. Hadn't heard it before. But sounds like uptempo dub to me. Espeically if King Tubby is attached to it. Hah.

Gotta show some love for the crooners:

Sugar Minott, very underrated...amazing singer:

I got that box set, but it's blue w/ 3 discs. one of my favorite comps is Skinhead Revolt. I floccin' love that mix.

If you mean the Skinhead Reggae set, they might be different, but I'm not sure. I don't recall that cover before. But there's so many Trojan sets I can't keep em all straight. I like the Dawning of a New Era set too.

Some third wave stuff isn't too bad. The Aquabats are just plain fun, can't deny that.

I like these guys, from Hawaii:
