Has anyone ever thought of hooking up a refrigerator compressor to a large copper coil and using that as a chiller?
My little brother in-law brought up the idea and I was wondering if that would actually work.. Maybe even a coil from a dehumidifier! That gets WAY colder than tap water.

I'm just not sure how it would react in boiling water...

+1 to the above....that's why people get several gallons of glycol and a submersible pump, pumping it throught the chiller and back into the fridge with the glycol reservoir.

You can also do this to maintain fermentation temps, by putting the pump on a temp controller.

hmmmm interesting!
I can use my pressure washer to circulate the fluid..
God I miss watching MacGyver!
