I am currently deciding between converting a mini fridge or a mid size fridge into a kegerator/draft system and have been having trouble getting solid info about the pros/cons of each so I thought I would post here to see what those experienced had to say.

I know I want a dual draft system and space is not an issue for me. My two basic concerns are -

1) if I go with the mini fridge, how difficult is it to fit the two kegs, co2 tank, and tubing in there? I know the kegs will fit but it seems after making a false bottom and with the freezer component in there, it may be difficult so I wasn't sure if anyone had done this before.

2) Are there any specific advantages to using a draft tower tap system with the mini fridge over drilling tap handles into the front of a mid sized fridge or vice versa?

If space is not a issue, I extremely recommend converting a chest freezer into a refrigerator. Chest fridge can be found on craigslist for under $100 and temp controller for $60. The major advantage with my 7 cubic footer is that I can fit a 25# co2 tank and 3 5 gallon kegs in there (one of mine, one from a local brewery and margarita/cave juice on tap). Also, by design you do not lose the cold when you open it. The triple tap tower goes on top.

I am going to be using 5 gallon kegs and a 5 lb co2 tank. Would the chest freezer still be my best option for that?

Also, does anyone have a recommendation on the best conversion kits? I had been looking at www.beveragefactory.com.
