Question...

Where can I find all of the parts to make a refridgerator with the exception of the actual box.

I have an old peice of furniture that i'd like to turn into a bar and I'm hoping that I can work a fridge for my kegs and taps into it.

any ideas?

anyone done anything like this before?

thanks
ws

Your best bet is to find a very small refigerator and mount it in your box. Then cut a hole in the side and use a fan to push cold air into your keg area. Working with refigeration is a somewhat specialized business. You would need tools for handling freon, soldering, de-watering, vaccum pumps, etc.

i hear ya..

I was hoping that maybe there was some sort of kit out there that would allow you to replace all the refrideration components for a unit that I could buy and apply to my situation. I'm fairly handy but don't much want to get too deep into the workings of refridgeration systems.

thanks for the reply. I'll have to research that option some.

anyone else have any ideas?

thanks
Will

www.repairclinic.com. Just make sure you get a system that runs on the same refrigerant they use in car A/C, i.e. R134. You can buy refill kits at Pep Boys, Autozone, NAPA and what have you. Also, check local appliance repair stores for parts and the refrigerant.

I'm looking at doing something similar, except making my own bar/box thing. Oh, make sure you insulate the box, some rigid foam and greatstuff, airleaks are the enemy.

You don't necessarily have to have alot of fancy equipment, if you buy the stuff new, you should be able to use automotive A/C fittings instead of soldering.

Keep me posted, I'm very interested to see your progress. I'm sure you'll get to doing yours first, but if not I'll try to work up any tips and such and post it.

wow.

probably a little more than I'm wanting to get into.

the "hole-in-the-fridge" idea sounds kinda good now :)

I'd probably just take the door off though.

I think i'm gonna shelf this project for later on though. A small mini fridge in the office will probably be the best for now.

thanks for the help and good luck with your project.

Will
