I got some white ale from sam adams. I just put all the sedement into some corn sugar I boiled up. Did it all sterile and the like. Used a beer that was not refridgerated. Anyone ever do this. I don't plan on using it for anything I just want to see if there is any viable yeast in there?

I've never tried it but i don't think you want to use corn sugar. It would be much better to use DME to make a wort with a gravity of about 1.030 or so. The wort has the nutrients the yeast needs.
