I have an old rotokeg with an inbuilt float that I'd like to recondition. It's pretty much fine, just needs a very good clean and an o-ring replacement (I know how to do that, so no worries.)

What would be the best way to clean it thoroughly? It's slightly discoloured and pretty filthy, so I'd need to hopefully lift the dirt off completely and get the colour back, if possible.

I got some non reconditioned 2.5 kegs that had soda syrup in them from the 80's prolly. LOL and i just scrubbed soaked with bleach water and scrubbed and soaked with bleach water over and over until they got clean but hopefully somebody knows of a better cleaner cause it took me forever

Don't use bleach!! The chromium on the surface will be broken down and you'll have to re-passivate to avoid rust. Use PBW or Bar Keepers Friend and let it soak. Use only plastic to scrub.

The keg he is talking about is plastic. You are going to want to soak it in a hot pbw solution to clean. It might take a couple trys. Also replace any rubber gaskets or o rings on it. They hold the smell/flavor of what was in them. Why go with such a small keg?
