Hi everyone,

I'm interested in the forum's input on this. I'm thinking about brewing this up in time for Christmas with my good buddy. The recipe is kind of out of my head, which is always iffy, so please give me your best shots!

The name is inspired by two things: first, the style being an imperial stout, I was hoping to invoke the thought of heavy weight motor oil. Second, 10w90 is kind of a play on the estimated OG of 1.090. Anyways, here it is:

10w90 Imperial Stout
Pale Malt - 12.75 lbs.
Rye Malt - 1 lbs.
Flaked Oats - 1 lbs.
Biscuit Malt - .75 lbs.
Chocolate Malt - .5 lbs.
Black Patent - .5 lbs.
Roasted Barley - .5 lbs.
Rice Hulls - .5 lbs.
Blackstrap Molasses - .66 lbs.
Northern Brewer Hops - 2.5 oz. at 90 min;
1 oz. at 5 min
Cacao Nibs - 2 oz. (30 min. boil)
3 Vanilla beans (split lengthwise and added to secondary)
White Labs WLP007 Dry English Ale Yeast
Primary: 2 weeks
Secondary: 2-4 months
OG: 1.090
IBU's: 61
Color: 40.3 SRM

Thanks,

- Roz

I would say drop the Black Patent, and increase the Roasted Barley to 1lb. Add some flaked Barley or carafoam and drop the oats.
