Being a GF grain, the only places that are likely to malt buckwheat for brewing are the places servicing the GF brewing community.

Buckwheat as just-seed is ~$1/lb (in quantity), but then you have to malt it, yourself. Just hard to imagine that there aren't economics of scale doing huge trucks of the stuff all at once. Whatever -- I'll keep looking. Maybe I'll buy a pound and learn about malting-at-home.
