Recently had 2 bottles of aging cider get infected. I am thinking I may not have cleaned the bottle as well as I should have.
I am not on the fence if it is worth the effort to clean bottles or just toss them?
I have more than enough bottles as I have neighbors who give me a steady flow of bottles.
However, what about the bung & airlock?
Are they affected by an infection in the liquid?
Does a good wash with soap & water followed by a dose of San star do the job?

I have also begun making a sour using lacto & Brett. While I am confident in my ability to clean glass (and yes I realize that just answered my above question), what about the tubes, bungs and air locks?

A good soak in PBW then StarSan will take care of the airlocks. The same will work for the bungs, but check them for damage. If they're very rough or cracked around the bottle end, I'd consider replacing as it's hard to get those areas clean.
