Hey Gang, a week or so ago i posted about malto dextrin and whether that was to blame for a high FG - 1.022. I had taken 3 readings to ensure that was the case- it seemed to be, but since then the airlock started bubbling and my new reading has it down to 1.020 ish. When i look inside the fermenter i see some white stuff on 30% of the surface. is it a new krausen? is it bacteria? would bacteria cause the airlock to bubble up again, and would the FG drop slightly?
did this happen because of the activity of me using my thief to grab samples? did my quick jerking of the thief stir up the bottom sediment :) ?

Most likely CO2 coming out of suspension and creating some bubble patches. That's why your airlock is bubbling again.
