Why on earth is that an Ambassadors beer?
It isn't. It is Public Release. Why on earth is that an Ambassadors beer?
I think it's an ambassador pre-sale, not an ambassador beer. Why on earth is that an Ambassadors beer?
They are solid extras, nothing above that. Not sure if this is the appropriate place for this question but I figure people here would have the most input on the matter...
What are RB bottles trading for? Reason I'm asking is even if the latest release(Hypnotized) isn't the greatest, would it be worth it to pick some up for trading purposes? I've heard that some bottles aren't even trading for cost.

same not a fan of these beers being aged in barrels that held other current beer.Pretty sure I will not bother with this one.
Just makes for paler (figuratively, but probably also literally) versions of other beers.same not a fan of these beers being aged in barrels that held other current beer.
It's so weird, because when Jester King does it, it's totally amazing. Then again, they're aging saisons in there as opposed to more straight up sour beer.same not a fan of these beers being aged in barrels that held other current beer.
They make a **** ton of their best beers, so that doesn't help tradeability. Their smaller releases like the recent Bordeaux bottles haven't really generated much hype because they aren't particularly special. They are solid extras, nothing above that.
Ironically yes.Lel, ppl were salty about No Salt IIRC tho.

Their Dubious series does seem to be a bit more experimental, if not terribly enticing sounding. I wonder how any of those beers'd be out of a bottle.Ironically yes.
People are probably disappointed they aren't doing Sante or De Garde level sours and the stuff that is really great, they make so much of it, it's hard to trade. I think criticisms regarding their conservatism are more valid though.
Yeah. I'm really crossing my fingers over the hope that the releases this year aren't all just different barrel treatments of their bases. The non club stuff hasn't suggested otherwise.Let's add more salt to the flame (that's the expression, right?)
Just got the notification of the second Ambassador release and it's...another Bordeaux barrel treatment.

Afterlight is a dark sour beer aged in French Bordeaux wine barrels. Fermented with Brettanomyces and Lactobacillus, this decadent sour beer presents notes of dark chocolate, dried cherries and vanilla. Dark and alluring, Afterlight entwines flavors of both beer and wine.
Does that mean the next Ambassador release is going to be the red base beer in Bordeaux barrels? I'm still holding out for Map of the Moon, but man this year's releases (Ambassador and non) have been weak.

I think that's how most of us feel.I'm sure it will be good. But for me, it doesn't excite me enough to pay $30 for any additional bottles.
The next one will be red base beer in freshly rinsed barrels that previously held Afterlight.I think that's how most of us feel.
did you try quite something?I'm actually really excited about Afterlight. As a big wine lover, I'm interested to see what the French Bordeaux barrels do to the beer.
I think a lot of people's issue has been with the same-iness/lack of diversity of the beers, not that they're necessarily bad. There's still page after page of Rare Barrel love in this thread. For all the negativity ITT regarding what they have released this year, I just looked up something and found some interesting results.
Top Rated Rare Barrel beers on Untappd right now:
Hypnotized (Batch Two) - 4.51
Ensorcelled (Batch Two) - 4.50
Home, Sour Home (Batch Two) - 4.45
Quite Something - 4.42
Map of the Moon - 4.41
...
No Salt - 4.22
Now, I'm not saying Untappd is the gospel truth or anything like that. Taste is subjective. But obviously a fair number people think 2 of the 3 beers released so far are among their best work. I recognize that the ratings for Hyp and QS may drop a little as more people around the country try them.
