I'm in the process of setting up my brew room in the cellar. It is an 8' W X 16' L X 8' H (1024 cu. ft.) space. It will be a basic gas cooktop setup with a 7" vent range hood right above it and out the rim joist on the house. The question might sound rhetorical (esp. in 'guy-thinking'), but should I get the hood with the 220 CFM capacity @ $150., or will the 190 CFM @ $39.95 do the job? Does anyone use this kind of setup, and what's your experience/advice?

I'd go for more in the house. I have a 190 out in my workshop and am thinking I might go for a bigger output there.

I did a calculation via an air change formula and came up with a need for at least 136 CFM for a 1024 cu. ft. space. However, I want to draw as much of the steam/smell from the boiling wort right off the stove top as quickly as possible to the outdoors. But I don't want to overkill it and thus, overspend if it's not necessary.
