fishing is relaxing

catching is work

work is not relaxing
I find it's best to just sit on the bank with a book and a brew, and let other people wave the sticks. Just like hunting is better when I leave the damn heavy guns at home and just carry a camera. I can get all the meat and fish I want at the market.

When I seen the phrase "insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result" the first thing I thought was that is also the principle to a lot of types of fishing.

I would bet the person that captioned that picture is not a fisherman.

That was me. I used to fish. I enjoy catching fish. Everything leading up to, and after, catching the fish, well.... I'd rather have a poke in the eye with a dull stick.

OK I stand corrected, or lose the bet.

I just think most fisherman have forgot about an over head obstacle or had a slight hang up and gave the pole a slightly more aggressive twitch then needed and got hung up.

Everyone has their own pain threshold, still fishing is difficult for me but I enjoy other forms of fishing. I really enjoy to fly fish so I guess I will always be a stick waver.

I'm currently a frustrated fishermen, I fish for big catfish but I prefer 3 pounders, my boat a 92 evinrude pontoon fishing boat is only running at half speed 3000 rpms, it's like putting around the lake and stalls in neutral, bad for docking

Call me crazy, but that seems like a HUGE investment to capture 3# of fish...

Fishing, usually has drinking involved, so expecting a different result gets a pass. It's also void of nagging women.

I see it no different than sitting at slot machine. Instead of waving a stick, you're pulling one. Worst of all you have to pay each time. I would always fish over gambling.

Come to think of it, that saying works with drinking and chasing women. - LOL

Funny. I don't recall ever drinking while fishing. Maybe that's what I did wrong?

You don't drink a lot typically. It's usually a cigar and a beer. Drinking is casual and slow until the fishing is over and it picks up once on shore after a nice fish dinner. Mainly cause pissing in a row boat kinda sucks and there's a limited supply in the row boat. LOL.

My grandmother, an avid fisherwoman, always said that if you can't pee in a coke bottle you don't belong in a boat.

My absolute favorite fish to fish for is catfish, especially at night, with a cooler full of beer & snacks. I don't own a boat, so I have to fish from shore...
But since there are NO catfish in western MT, I haven't fished for them in a long time. These days I fish for trout.
Regards, GF.

So there are no catfish....There is no reason you can't still fish for them. The beer and snacks don't know.
