So has anyone had any bad experiences with a certain material of tube leaving residual (rubber/plastic) taste in the process of racking? I want to know before I begin the process.
Use either tubing sold by your LHBS or tubing sold for wine making. There is no rubber used and the plastic (both hard and flexible parts are quite stable and do not leach chemicals. There should be no taste from these plastics.
As long as you use beverage/food grade tubing, you should be fine. Check out the Fermtech Auto-Siphon if you haven't already...makes racking a breeze! Comes in a couple of sizes depending on whether you're doing smaller batches or 5 to6 gal
