I have a mead that's almost done with primary fermentation, I'm probably going to do a secondary fermentation and maybe add some fruit to the secondary. The problem is that I don't have another available vessel to directly rack into. Is there any issue with me racking into a sanitized pitcher and then re-racking into the original vessel after cleaning/sanitizing it? No pouring involved obviously, just racking twice.

Also, should I stabilize with campden/potassium sorbate prior to adding in the fruit, or just rack on top of the fruit and then stabilize to prevent the fruit from fermenting? Or before even doing the any racking?

Racking twice to get it back in the FV should not be a problem. I'd stabilize just before adding to the fruit to help with anything that might be on it. Good luck!
