Ill try and keep this short. I have made a recipe that I think looks great. It's an Imperial IPA and I have 12lbs of 2 Row Pale Malt grain. And 2lbs of cara 60L.

Should I mash the cara 60L with the other, or should I mash just the 12lbs of 2row Pale malt and then steep the cara 60L. I am using Beersmith 2 and it is saying that I would be mashing it all, but then when I was thinking about it, I can't seem to find any option for steeping specialty grains.

Just curious. I know if I steeped the cara 60L I would get better color.

I'm pretty sure there is no reason to steep specialty grains separately. Just mash all your grains togetheris what I've read.

Agree with above...there's no reason to separate out the adjuncts/other malts and the base malts when doing AG. In most cases they will contribute some fermentable sugars and color (SRM) during the mash.
