I just got a Therminator plate chiller. I haven't used it yet. My biggest concern is using it in the extremenly cold weather we've been experiencing.

I'm concerned about getting all the water out of the chiller for storage between batches. I'm assuming I can just blow out as much as possible after use, but I store everything in my garage and it can get sub-zero for days at a time.

Should I be concerned about ice crystals forming inside the chiller and causing damage? Do I need to unbolt it from my stand and bring it in the house for storage?

How does everyone else handle the cold weather?

I'd probably bring it inside. I have one from Duda Diesel and it seems like there's always a little bit of water left in mine no matter how well I think I've drained it. Better to be safe than sorry as far as I'm concerned.

yeah bring it inside.. i have one that i store upside down and at an angle so eventually everything would drip out, but like microbusbrewery said there is always something still in in next time i brew no matter how long its been

Your around the corner from me I see...
I would take it inside as well.... yet another advantage of electric I guess since I get to brew indoors.:)
